Well, it's been like forever since anyone has been on the blog to update. Alot has happened, and we have alot of very exciting news.

(1) We had another report to the Area assembly, soon to be posted
(2) we had a very successful new-years fundraiser!
(3) OUR CONFERENCE IS COMING UP SOON!!!

(4) our website is being built. we finally have got our webserver up and running and it should be a short time until the site is completed. You can preview it here, although it is quite rudimentary right now.

The following was reported to the Area Assembly for Area 37:

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Oliver R. and I'm an alcoholic
from Jackson, MS. I have the privilege to report to you today as the
chair of the conference committee for the Mississippi Conference of
Young People in AA, or as we call it MSCYPAA.

First off, I would like to just once again inform you all as to what
MSCYPAA is and what it does for the benefit of the new GSR's. MSCYPAA
is a statewide conference serving ALL AA's in the State of
Mississippi. MSCYPAA is not just for young people, after all the
primary purpose says that AA is for "men and women," not young men and
young women or older men and women. MSCYPAA merely provides a service
opportunity for younger members of AA to give back to the community
which has given us so much. We do this by organizing the hospitality
room for Area for the past two years before the local intergroup took
it over this year. We also do this by putting on several events
throughout the year: MSCYPAA has a yearly conference on memorial day
weekend, and we host several AA events such as our annual SPOOKYPAA
Halloween party and speaker meeting that we just had, and our upcoming
New Years party and speaker meeting to be held on Dec 31 in Ridgeland,
MS,

We are in the process of trying to reach out state-wide to all AA's to
fulfill our purpose of serving all AA's. We have contacts and active
members from the Hattiesburg area and from the Vicksburg area. We
have had mild interest from several cities around the state to bid for
the conference for next year. We have been growing exponentially, our
attendance at our conference has grown from 30 to nearly 300 over the
past four years. We seek to continue this growth, and we are
actively reaching out to AA's across the state.

Trip to Vicksburg

Don't forget . . . this Sunday, we are planning a trip to Vicksburg to go visit a new young people's group and help get them involved in MSCYPAA. We would love for all of you to go: we will be meeting at the YANA club at 4:30 to carpool/ caravan there.

So, upon further investigation, the domain name www.mscypaa.net is expired, but under some "redemption period" in which the original domain name owner (us) has the right to renew the lease on the name before it goes public again. But unfortunately, because of a hard drive failure, the login information with our original name registrar has been lost . . . (this is the same harddrive failure that resulted in the complete loss of my email and other archived files of which the electronic copy of our bylaws was lost). and yes, i have learned my lesson about only using one place to backup files . . .

So, I know there might be someone out there that has this login info, there has to be! so if you have it, PLEASE email me. Thanks!

Well, I finally checked on the website, as it has been down for a little while and realized that both the hosting and the name have both lapsed. So i figured that this was as good a time as any to switch us over to our preferred name of www.mscypaa.org. I registered the site name with GoDaddy, and am looking into hosting possibilities. The ideal situation is to host ourselves, and Tim is looking into donating an old Dell server to the MSCYPAA cause . . . hopefully it will work out, otherwise we will have to pay for hosting--not all that expensive but certainly more expensive than free . . .

Leave comments as to weather or not we should re-register mscypaa.net and have it direct to our new site . . . for those tens of people who regularly visited our old site . . . haha.

mscypaa.org points to this blog right now, but we are actively working on building a new site, so stay tuned . . .
